Item Description

From the type locality for the species, here we have an excellent quality small cabinet / large miniature specimen of the classic Brazilianites from Corrego Frio. A good sized, beautiful, fine quality, sharp, classic, gemmy, lustrous, gorgeous yellow green, doubly-terminated color crystal with minor attached white Albite. The species has been known since the 1940s, at the best specimens from the type locality are still the finest examples of the species extant. This piece is certainly and older specimen based upon the habit and color, I would say it dates back 40-50 years. Very good quality all around, as the piece is complete on the display side, though it is contacted / cleaved on the back where it was removed from the pocket wall. The faces of the main crystal are smooth and lustrous (not etched), and the gemminess is certainly very good. That eye-catching yellow-green color is unmistakable, which combined with the distinctive habit of the crystals makes for a fine display piece. It's a good quality specimen, and this decades old material is highly sought after by collectors. Valued at $3,500 based upon the quality, color, size and the fact that it's and older specimen.
