Item Description

The Calamita mine is the most important mine of Calamita peninsula on the south-east part of the island of Elba in Italy. Organized mining dates back over 130 years, and this old Magnetite mine sits nearly at sea level along the coast of the island. There are sporadic copper deposits in the mine, which allowed for some beautiful secondary copper minerals to form. This piece hosts velvety, mint-green color "sprays" of Brochanite on matrix. A rarely seen specimen of this classic Italian material.
