Item Description

Sparkly translucent, emerald-green brochantite microcrystals are festooned on both sides of the flat matrix of Permian-age (299-252 MYA) sandstone. The rare specimen is from an obscure, small copper-silver deposit in Central Oklahoma. One does not usually think of secondary copper species from Oklahoma! The piece was collected-by and was in the collection of Joe Lobell in 1981, a well-known retired dealer and prominent field collector of Oklahoma and Texas material. See Joe's 1986 Mineralogical Record article on the deposit in Vol. 17, No. 6, pp. 371-374. Ex Chad Dalrymple collection of Ardmore, Oklahoma who passed away in 1995. We recently obtained a portion of his collection. Chad acquired this very interesting Oklahoma rarity from Joe in December, 1994. VERY RARE on the market today. We have only seen a very few in our lifetimes here, probably all collected by Lobell.
