Item Description

Embolite is an old synonym of bromian chlorargyrite. This is a showy cluster of sharp, waxy, light brown crystals from the classic and best locality of old Broken Hill. This is a rare member of the group of related silver chlorides from Broken Hill, and hard to obtain today in good specimens. This excellent piece was mined in the late 1800s. Ex John "Lord" Calvert (1825-1897) and Joseph D'Agostino Collections. It was probably purchased through Martin Ehrmann.
