A superb 1.3 cm, orthorhombic dipyramidal pseudohexagonal brookite is jauntily set on the front of the sculptural mounded massive quartz matrix covered with smaller brookites and quartz points. The splendent dark metallic gray crystal has a stunning stepped-growth front flanked by sharp prism faces, which adds dramatic character to the crystal. This exceptional specimen is from the famous exotic Magnet Cove deposit of Arkansas, well-known for world-class rutile and brookite specimens. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Her specimen number was lost during the move. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Matrix brookites of this style, size and quality are rare and desirable from Magnet Cove.
