Brookite (classic material)

A beautiful and rarely seen small cabinet sized matrix specimen of these famous Brookites from Magnet Cove. Most Brookite crystals are often thin tabular blades, but the Magnet Cove crystals have a distinctive thicker pseudo-octahedral (orthorhombic) habit. This piece features several very sharp, rather lustrous, crystals of black Brookite measuring up to 8 mm across which are associated with white to grey colored quartz crystals on matrix. The "wet" luster combined with the excellent form of the brookite crystals is hard to capture in the photos/video, and it truly looks better in person. A wonderful classic specimen of this historic material. Valued on the previous dealer label at $750, but I think it certainly could be closer to $1000 today due to the fact that it's not easy to find good matrix pieces of this material these days.
