Item Description
Famous for axinite, quartz and titanite specimens, the well-known Dodo Mine has also produced noteworthy, Alpine-type Brookite and Quartz combination pieces although they are very rare on the market today, and generally came out in the 1980s-early 1990s. Here, the lightly coated, brownish-red Brookite crystals reach up to 1.7 cm, and the blades have a luster that varies from matte to very good. There is some slight wear and/or contacting along one edge of the main crystal, with the windows on the main crystal showing the true character of the highly-translucent, red-tinted interiors. Thicker and somewhat heftier than modern Pakistani Brookites, this nice combination piece was likely mined in the 1980s. It is an unusually aesthetic example of Russian Brookite. Valued $1200-1500.
