Item Description

A TRUE old-time Texas RARITY from this obscure West Texas mine. The Marble Canyon Mine is the only Texas locality MINDAT lists for the brucite, an uncommon Mg-hydroxide. MINDAT features NO specimens in the photo gallery of any of the 37 species, that are listed for the mine. The large triangular matrix is covered with a thin crust of shimmering, lustrous, platy snow-white brucite. The specimen was obtained by the Philadelphia Academy of Sciences during their 1941 expedition to the Trans-Peco area of West Texas. A perhaps, UNIQUE and highly desirable Texas specimen. The numbers match.
