Item Description

Riveting yellow-orange cadmium smithsonite has coated and partially replaced classic saddle-shaped dolomite crystals on this striking plate from the famous Rush Creek District of Arkansas. The smithsonite usually pseudomorphs the dolomite, so this is a very uncommon varietal of this excellent specimen. The trivial bit of bruising reveals the underlying snow-white dolomite. Excellent and rare material from this noted locale from the Howard Belsky Collection. The older label (circa 1970s to 80s) with the piece has a $100 price even at that time! Valued more, now
