Item Description

Bright yellow, cadmium-included smithsonite has pseudomorphed classic saddle-shaped dolomite crystals on this showy and excellent specimen from the famous mines of the Rush Creek District of Arkansas. Very fine smithsonite microcrystals then coat the larger saddles giving them a slightly furry appearance. The smithsonite pseudos are well presented against a sparkling drusy micro-quartz coating the matrix plate, making this a particularly good example from this location. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
