Cadmium Smithsonite ps. Dolomite

Good specimens of yellow, “turkey fat” Smithsonite from Arkansas are rare enough, but this specimen is truly one of my favorites of all for the isolation of crystals and blance on sparkly matrix. This quality only came out sporadically in the decades of artisnal underground collecting at this mine. The Smithsonite, with its rich yellow color, has pseudomorphed crystallized Dolomite, and there may even be some yellow Greeenockite crystals adding to beauty. But what I find most striking is the superb visual balance of the two main, 1.8 cm clusters of curving pseudos as they sit perfectly on the plate of matrix. The aesthetics of this American classic are excellent, and these two ISOLATED, beautifully formed fans yellow Smithsonite are really special! Purchased in the 1990s from field colelctor Don Heins and Doug Wallace, this was always a choice large miniature/small cabinet piece that I remembered well. Valued $1000-plus
