Item Description

Calcites from China are varied, colorful and many of them are quite unique. This piece is a wonderful cabinet sized matrix display specimen of the elusive Calcites found around 2010 in a coal mine in Daye Co., Hubei, China. Very few of these are available on the market now, and they some of the most distinctive crystals of Calcite from any Chinse locality. The piece hosts several very well-formed, sharp, gemmy, lustrous, rich golden colored compressed trigonal crystals of Calcite measuring up to 4.7 cm across, sitting on a thin layer of matrix. No major damage that I can find with the naked eye, and very showy. I love the one crystal that sits prominently atop the specimen. These pieces came out for a very short time, and haven't been found again, so don't miss out on adding this one to your Calcite suite or your collection of Chinese minerals. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
