Item Description

A wonderful combo specimen from the famed Stari Trg Mine at Trepča, Kosovo. This locality is a massive lead-zinc deposit (the entire complex is the largest of its kind in Europe), which has been mined since the late part of the Middle Ages. It is known today as a source of wonderful crystallized mineral specimens, including well-known carbonates and sulfides. This piece is a showy and fine quality display specimen filled with sharp, well-formed, translucent, white/colorless crystals of highly compressed rhombs of Calcite measuring up to 3.8 cm across, which are associated with metallic golden Pyrite and oxidized Arsenopyrite. Small cream colored groups of Dolomite can be seen as well for a nice touch. There are some small imperfections in a few spots, so the piece is not pristine, but it's very attractive in person and looks great in the hand or on a shelf.
