Dalnegorsk is known for many great species, the gemmy and glassy Calcites from the 1980s-90s heyday being prominent among them. This very attractive cluster consists of four prominent GEM calcites accented with several smaller ones. The longest is 3.5 cm, and it is actually doubly-terminated. The Calcites are gemmy, pristine, and they have superb luster. On top of that, they have a deep orange fluorescence. This is a wonderful, aesthetic small cabinet that is even better in person as the gemminess makes it hard to photograph. The piece is simply INCREDIBLE in person in details hard to capture in photo. As a bonus, it has slight manganoan content and fluoresces an amazing orange-red as these tend to do. Old material, from the 1980s or early 1990s, and from the old dealer stock of Herb Obodda which we purchased in 2008 (it was valued at $1500).
