Item Description

A fascinating, very sculptural two-sided small cabinet specimen of two generations of calcite from this famous extinct underground uranium mine, closed since 1982. Very glassy, transparent to translucent, colorless to lightly oxide-tinted, blocky calcite rhombs are very aesthetically intergrown and look dramatically different from side to side. Tiny oxide-tinted nailhead calcites are richly, dramatically and preferentially deposited on the large rhombs, mostly on one side. Pristine, except for the bit of periphery wear at the base. An exceptional and artistic two-sided, two-generation calcite from the Frank Hissong Collection.
