Item Description

A dramatic, rare and highly unusual multi-generational calcite specimen from the famous mines at Dal'negorsk. The impressive primary crystals are the imposing 2nd-generation glassy, translucent, light gray scalenohedrons. The large doubly terminated crystal on the left is 7.2 cm long. These spikes are attached to a strange looking arborescent cluster of 1st-generation oxide-coated very elongated calcite crystals! Two more calcite generations partially and aesthetically coat the large spikes. First milky calcite, seen by the 3.2 cm flattened, doubly terminated crystal on the right followed by the 4th-generation nubby cream-colored calcite, that coats the 3rd-generation crystals. Striking and most exotic 360-degree calcite from the Cynthia Payne Calcite Collection. Bright orange-pink fluorescence. Valued by the former dealer at $950. Dal'negorsk, like Tsumeb is renowned for calcite diversity and quality and this is an outstanding example.
