Item Description

This long storied historic U.S. locality has produced some of the world's finest Calcite and Fluorite specimens extant. Despite the fact that there are only a handful of minerals found at the Elmwood mine, some of them are among the most recognizable minerals in the world. This wonderful cabinet piece hosts large, very sharp, highly lustrous, rather gemmy, beautiful golden orange to soft yellow scalenohedra of Calcite with minor crystallized white Barite on the base. The large / main Calcite crystal is twinned as you can see the reentrant angle at the center of the crystal, and the majority of the crystals are actually doubly-terminated! This piece is in very good shape overall for the size, though there are a few imperfections here and there. These pieces are well known classics from the U.S. and this one really has it all from the standpoint of quality, size and displayability. Valued at $1250 retail. Weight is 674 grams.
