Item Description

Santa Eulalia is well-known for it Calcite specimens that feature sharp Hematite phantoms within the crystals. These dogtooth Calcites are no exception. Many of the Calcites are over 1 cm in height, and not only are they zoned, but they are intergrown with Fluorite crystals. If you look closely, you can even see a second generation of zoned Calcite rhombs sitting on the larger crystals, each little rhomb looking for all the world like a tiny egg with their Hematite cores. This cabinet specimen has so much going for it in terms of mineral interest and aesthetics. Likely from the first great finds of the 1940's, this was #5471 in Kay's collection.
