Item Description

A very sculptural, decidedly different, 360-degree calcite from famed Tsumeb. Two sides of the arborescent cluster of intergrown pearlescent translucent white calcite rhombs are dramatically and preferentially overgrown with iron oxides. The oxides have interfered with the calcite rhomb growth, causing them to have more intense stepped-growth, with a hoppered look. Very interesting chemistry here. Complete all-around and essentially pristine, except for the attachment at the base and a trivial bit of bruising on the back. A fascinating Tsumeb calcite form. Tsumeb, like Dal'negorsk is famed for calcite diversity and quality and this is a fine and unusual example.
