Item Description

A beautiful, multi-crystal group featuring many sharp, well-formed, very lustrous, scalenohedral crystals of golden colored Calcite measuring up to 10.1 cm long free of matrix. The back of the piece shows some smaller Calcite crystals and off-white colored Barite. The Calcites are not completely undamaged, and there are a few nicks here and there, but it's rare to find so many intergrown crystals like this with such wonderful three-dimensional form and appeal. I really love the repeating "teeth"-like terminations of the tightly intergrown crystals on the top portion of the specimen. Elmwood Calcites used to be fairly abundant on the market, and didn't get proper credit for their superior quality back in the day. Today they are recognized as some of the finest examples of the species known, which really is saying something considering the thousands of localities around the world where it's found. Priced in the inventory at $1,500.
