Item Description

Of the countless localities where Calcite is found in the Midwestern United States, the pieces from North Vernon, Indiana are certainly among the most distinctive. The unique habit combined with the beautiful distinctive color makes these pieces instantly recognizable. This small cabinet specimen features several fine quality, VERY gemmy, beautiful golden colored, highly modified trigonal crystals with a lovely resinous luster measuring up to 2.3 cm across sitting on host rock matrix. Nearly every crystal on the display side is undamaged, and they just look beautiful up close. A really lovely example of this classic material, which is not nearly as easy to find on the market as it was 10-15 years ago. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1748). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
