Calcite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A classic Tsumeb Calcite with layered / stepped rhombohedra of a slightly smoky color on very minor matrix. A bit of a green Duftite or Mottramite can be seen near the edge of the piece, and the reddish hue of the matrix creates a lovely two-tone effect. The Calcites are notably gemmy, and for the most part, the piece is in excellent condition overall. A great small cabinet display specimen to add to any collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
