Item Description

Sculptural and uncommon large calcite from the famous Denton Mine and the Tom Wolfe Calcite Collection. Densely intergrown swirled clusters of translucent, honey-yellow, flattened calcite rhombs with waxy luster look like the petals of unopen peony flower heads, especially the impressive large spherical cluster. The specimen is solid calcite and there looks to be some bitumen patches on the framing blocky calcite. The calcite has a rich yellow glow, when back lit. Straw-yellow fluorescence (hydrocarbons?). This is a rare and showy style of calcite from the Denton Mine.
