Item Description

An impressive, pristine, 6.0 cm, tapered, glassy, translucent, striated calcite rhombohedron dominates this showy and sculptural small cabinet combination from the well-known Moscona Mine in Asturias. Smaller calcites and dense clusters of gemmy, very glassy, small brown fluorite cubes artistically flank the large calcite rhomb. Small calcites at one end are ringed by small, bone-white, saddle-shaped dolomite rhombs, a nice complement and accessory. The brown color in the fluorites is caused by hydrocarbon inclusions. The fluorites fluoresce yellow to white from hydrocarbon inclusions under both LW and SW UV light. An uncommon combination from the locale in excellent shape. This is from the Spanish specialty collection of geologist Raul Sanabria, who grew up in the region and built a large collection specializing in Spanish minerals.
