Item Description

A group of sharp, "dogtooth" habit scalenohedral crystals of Calcite with a beautiful satiny interior. The crystals are very sharp and well-formed creating a very aesthetic display specimen. Minor roughness near the terminations keep the piece from being 100% perfect, but it's a very attractive old time piece dating back to the 1800s! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#5112). Attached to the bottom of the specimen is a typed label from famed mineral dealer A. E. Foote of Philadelphia. Foote lived from 1846 to 1895, so the piece is well over 100 years old! Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
