Calcite is one of the best-known species from Tsumeb, with its various habits, forms and colors, and they're even more enticing when you find eye-catching matrix pieces like this. This Small cabinet display specimen hosts a 1.7 cm, sharp, GEMMY, colorless twin of rhombohedral Calcite sitting aesthetically on a matrix of mint-green Malachite which is covered by small sparkling gemmy Calcites. I love the morphology of the main Calcite twin, as this habit is very three-dimensional and unusual for Tsumeb. A few smaller secondary Calcite twins can be seen on the specimen as well. The main Calcite twin is fine quality, undamaged, and is set so perfectly near the top of the piece to create such a showy overall specimen with fantastic aesthetics. No real damage, just a few tiny bruises, but it's a really attractive piece that stands as a fine example of classic Tsumeb Calcite.
