Item Description

A four piece set of Calcite geodes from the obscure locality at Beaver Creek, Wyoming (which is apparently a ski area). I don't know a lot about this material, it's certainly rare on the market, and were it not for the label, I would have no idea where it could be from. The specimens range in size from 5.7 x 3.5 x 2.3 cm down to 2.7 x 2.4 x 2.2 cm. These pieces come from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The piece comes with a typed label from Wulff that says he personally collected them. The back of the label says that the black material is petroleum.
