Item Description

A rare and highly unusual large calcite and quartz combination from an unknown locale near Amboy, California. A sharp, 4.8 cm coated calcite scalenohedron is strikingly set, like an arrowhead, at the base of an elongated, hollow, quartz crystal-lined, oxide-coated geode. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 58 and acquired from The Bradley's in 1957. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). RARE, perhaps unique, old-time California combination material. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
