Item Description

Septarian nodules are concretions containing angular cavities or cracks, which are called "septaria". Calcite filled septarian nodules from Muddy Creek are a US classic. The striking sculptural shrinkage voids in this excellent large sawed and polished concretion are filled with four generations of colorful calcite, first the light and dark brown calcite lining the voids and then the pretty yellow and finally colorless calcite filling the impressive large void. Yellow and brown fluorescence. 5 slightly smaller 1.0 cm slabs could be cut from this fine large specimen. 1658 grams or 3.6 pounds mass.
