Calcite on Dolomite stalactite

Item Description

A really cool and unusual specimen from the Stari Trg Mine in the Trepca Complex in Kosovo featuring several compressed "disc"-like crystals of pale pink gemmy Calcite measuring up to about 1.5 cm across, which are growing on both ends of a stalactitic column of vitreous rhombic tan Dolomite. One end features a small amount of metallic golden Pyrite. The piece is nearly crystallized all over, as there is only one small point of attachment on the back. No major damage, and showy from several sides. This is one of the more distinctive and odd pieces we've seen from this mine, really interesting in person. Ex DeNatura specimen.
