Calcite on Hematite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

A really cool old time Ironwood Calcite on Hematite. These are not easy to find on the market, and this one is a great example of the material. Originally labeled as coming from the Geneva-Davis Mine, but I can't find a listing for this locality. Sharp, well-formed group of compressed rhombohedral white Calcite have formed gorgeous "rosettes" sitting on reddish-black, sparkling Hematite matrix. A great overall specimen of this elusive and beautiful material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1032). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
