Item Description

Half of this impressive large plate is composed of the colorful hematite-included, dogtooth, calcite crystals, that we have offered in past auctions. These crystals are partially coated with hematite and have striking, clay-stained, internal, hematite phantoms. The other half looks distinctively different, as these calcites have an additional overgrowth of sparkly, drusy, calcite micro-rhombs. ONLY very trivial, scattered crystal edge bruising and periphery wear on one edge are noted. These have very minimal impact on the overall fine quality of this unusual large and different-looking calcite from Santa Eulalia. A dramatic piece with very interesting chemistry. Ex Dave Stoudt Collection # 38 and acquired in 2005 from an old dealer's stock. Valued at $750-1000. extra shipment weight will apply
