Item Description

Minerals specimens are rare from this extinct obscure small Pima County small underground Au-Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn mine southwest of Tucson. The mine produced from only 1890-1910. This piece features sharp, lustrous, vitreous silvery-grey colored crystals of Calcite measuring up to 3 mm sitting on beautifully contrasting bladed pink Barite groups on the drusy quartz matrix. This is the only piece I've seen from this mine with these unusually colored Calcites, I've only seen white Calcites prior to this specimen. An unusual and worthwhile specimen to add to an Arizona suite! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9161). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Rare and excellent combination material from the mine.
