Item Description

This piece is from a find in Chenzhou dating back to 2005 featuring, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, pseudo-pyritohedral, very light straw colored crystals of Calcite on Quartz matrix. The specimen is in great shape overall, (I can only see one cleaved crystal, the rest are in good shape) and displays very well. The largest crystal measures 1.3 cm across, and would certainly make a good addition to a worldwide Calcite suite, or a collection of Chinese minerals. I have not seen many of these around, and this is one of the better pieces I have offered in the auctions in while. This particular habit of Calcite is rare in nature, as it appears to be more isometric than trigonal.
