Item Description

A classic pseudomorph / alteration specimen of the so-called "Glendonites" from the Kola Peninsula. These specimens start out as Ikaite which is calcium carbonate (Calcite) but with a handful of water molecules attached to it. Once the Ikaite reaches a temperature above 8°C (46°F), it pseudomorphs into Calcite. This specimen is a great example of this well known, but now seemingly hard to find material with very sharp and distinct coppery colored crystals showing their original monoclinic form before they became Calcite. These are certainly RARE and worth picking up because of the unique form and attractive coloration. Enjoy!
