Item Description

The Trepča Complex in Kosovo is a giant lead-zinc-silver deposit located on the slopes of Kopaonik Mountain. The complex comprises over 40 individual mines, but the major producer of fine specimens is the Stari Trg Mine. This locality has yielded excellent crystallized pieces of well-known minerals like Calcite, Quartz, Pyrite, etc. This small cabinet association specimen features a coverage of little compressed rhombs of Calcite, which are associated with sparkling bright golden metallic Pyrite along with gemmy prismatic Quartz crystals, which are sitting on an earlier generation of light golden-cream colored blocky rhombs of Calcite matrix. The piece is in good shape, though some of the Quartz crystals are contacted, so it's not 100% pristine. A lovely example of this well-known and iconic material.
