Item Description

Here we have a wonderful and fine quality cabinet display specimen from the little known Pine Point area in the Northwest Territories of Canada. I've only seen a handful of these pieces over the years, and this piece is certainly in the upper tier in terms of quality. After doing a comparison glance on mindat.org, I can see that most of the Calcites from this area are somewhat white in color with a matte luster, but THIS piece features gorgeous light golden-yellow colored modified rhombic crystals with a pleasant resinous luster, good internal gemminess and no damage that I can see, sitting on compressed rhombic cream colored Dolomite matrix. The largest Calcite measures 1.8 cm. A showy and really attractive specimen that would make a fine addition to any worldwide Calcite collection. You almost never see these for sale on the market, so don't miss out. From the worldwide carbonate collection of Jim Robison, with a label from Tyson's Minerals.
