Item Description

A gorgeous group of sharp, lustrous, gemmy golden scalenohedral crystals of Calcite measuring up to 3.8 cm long on matrix from Terlingua, Texas. The crystals get their color from Cinnabar inclusions apparently, and you can seen some bright red areas upon close inspection. Beautiful internal phantoms can be seen on all crystals. The majority of the Calcites are in good shape, though there are a few nicks here and there. Typically, the Calcites from Terlingua are seen in single crystal examples, and it's nearly impossible to find multiple crystals like this - only seen in old collections. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2977). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
