Item Description

Calcite specimens are RARE from the Blue Bell Mine of British Columbia, which was a major lead-zinc producer in the province until its closing in 1971. This impressive and sculptural large combination plate is dominated by the intergrown clusters of very glassy, translucent, striated, flattened calcite rhombs. The striking large rhomb on the right side is 4.5 cm. The matrix is granular sphalerite and the piece is nicely accented with a field of sharp, larger sphalerites on the lower right and sprays of quartz points on the left side. There is an excellent article on this noted locale in the January-February, 1977 issue of the Mineralogical Record. This very fine and rare large combination is pristine and is from the Art Soregaroli Collection. Neon-orange fluorescence! A RARE and choice large combination.
