Item Description

Mineral specimens from this obscure Swiss calcite cleft system are RARE. Intergrown, highly modified blocky, translucent, gray rhombs, to 2.3 cm, form a showy and very interesting piece. The interior is pristine. The bit of periphery wear has very minimal impact on this rare and fine calcite. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 4875 and acquired in a trade in the mid-1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Choice and rare calcite in this quality.
