Calcite twin on Calcite (classic rare US locale)

Item Description

This fine Gallatin County calcite has great aesthetics. An imposing 7.1 cm doubly terminated crystal is dramatically perched atop the mounded limestone matrix festooned with dogtooth calcite crystals. The larger lustrous, gemmy/translucent calcites have pretty amber color with frosted faces. The large crystal looks like its trying to twin, but didn't quite make it. A bit of gently bruised tips to the large crystal, along with a cleaved tip to the secondary calcite are noted, but are certainly only minimal detractions to the excellent 360-degree example from the classic Montana locale. valued $750-950
