Calcite (var: Manganoan)

Item Description

A beautiful group of robust, bright baby pink colored crystals of manganese-bearing Calcite free of matrix. The under side of the piece reveals a second generation of smaller Mn-Calcite crystals, where I believe the piece came free of the pocket wall, and re-crystallized, making it a near "floater" specimen. The largest crystal measures 3.1 cm. At close glance, it appears that a few of the Calcite crystals are actually twinned, showing penetration (reentrant) faces. Very little damage and the glowing pink color is mesmerizing. A handful of prismatic white / colorless Quartz crystals is a nice accent. These are some of the best crystallized manganoan Calcite specimens from anywhere in the world, and this one has the added bonus of being very balanced and showy. Priced at $1,500 in the inventory.
