A striking, sculptural and rare style of famous "black calcite" from 1990s finds at the Herja Mine in Romania. Fine-grained inclusions of feather-ore jamesonite have the colored the rosette of flattened saddle-shaped calcite rhombs. Secondary appendages of glassy included calcite rhombs, some with sharp needle sprays to 1.0 cm AND a multitude of tiny sharp third generation colorless calcite scalenohedrons sprinkled about are super and very uncommon accessories. An outstanding and pristine 360-degree example of this rare style calcite from the Cynthia Payne Calcite Collection. Valued at $495 by the former dealer.
