Item Description

Fern-like, rich vivid olive-green mottramite crystals are richly and dramatically coated-on and included-in a very sculptural 360-degree cluster of intergrown glassy, tapered calcite rhombs from famed Tsumeb. The impressive large crestal rhomb is 4.0 cm. The literature does not list volborthite for the locale. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2764 and acquired in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Tsumeb, like Dalnegorsk, is famed for calcite divesity and quality and this is a classic and exceptionally rich combination example.
