Item Description

Tsumeb Calcites vary greatly in their size, habit and colors. This particular style / association is rare in my experience from Tsumeb. The piece features sharp, lustrous, gemmy, soft golden colored modified rhombic crystals of Calcite measuring up to 2.9 cm across which have a selective deposition of dark green Conichalcite on the truncated faces of the corners. The periphery is contacted where the piece was clearly removed from the pocket, but the display face of the piece is in excellent shape. A must have for any Calcite collector or a Tsumeb collector as this will fill a spot in your collection, since I'm sure most people have not seen these particular specimens before. It is not only unusual, but very attractive, and a worthwhile add from this most prestigious of localities. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7776). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
