Item Description

A dramatic, complete-all-around CABINET calcite specimen from the Brushy Creek Mine. Lustrous, gray calcite scalenohedrons to 4.0 cm are aesthetically and preferentially coated with sparkly, iridescent chalcopyrite crystals. This is classic and excellent combination material from this locale. These specimens have very interesting development: most of the original scalenohedrons were all covered with chalcopyrite, and then the calcite began growing again, enveloping the original crystal in some areas and leaving the chalcopyrite exposed in others. This is a striking crust of a specimen and is essentially pristine. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. One of the best larger pieces on this type I have seen in the last 30 years.
