Calcite with Chalcopyrite & Marcasite

Item Description

An impressive, sharp, large, pristine, slate-gray, 10.0 cm calcite point is dramatically encrusted with tiny, sparkly, rust-red, iron oxide-tinted, chalcopyrite and marcasite crystals from the well-known Brushy Creek Mine. The striking large crystal is aesthetically set on the sculptural large plate covered with smaller gray calcite spikes. Scattered patches of iridescent and oxide-tinted sulfides add contrast and character. An old oxidized contact next to the large crystal adds even more interest. The specimen was either recovered from a 1979 large single pocket or from more specimens recovered from the large cavity system in the mid-1990s from a specimen-mining venture. Ex Chad Dalrymple collection of Ardmore, Oklahoma who passed away in 1995. We recently obtained a portion of his collection. He acquired this striking and impressive large calcite with unusual oxide-tinted sulfides from a classic locale in the 1990s.
