The iconic Calcite specimens from Daye are some of the most well-known examples of the species from China, which is saying something considering the incredible number of specimens on the market from dozens of Chinese mines. This fine showy cabinet specimen features a predominant sharp, lustrous scalenohedral crystal of Calcite surrounded by dozens of smaller accenting Calcites of equal quality, on matrix. The crystals have a pleasing reddish hue due to Hematite inclusions. The main Calcite measures 7.3 cm across. long, and with the exception of a cleave on one end, is in fine shape.
