Item Description

A rarely seen specimen of Calcite from the Ives Quarry in Racine, Wisconsin, featuring fine quality scalenohedral crystals measuring up to 3.1 cm, with sharp, well-formed faces and good internal gemminess, which reveals beautiful internal "phantoms" which are composed of micro Marcasite. The piece is in fairly good shape overall, but there are a few rough spots, so it's not completely pristine. This piece was mined in 1998, and is one of the few examples we've had to offer in the auctions. If you collect Calcites or minerals from the Midwestern US, don't miss out on this one.
