Item Description

Caledonite is a complex Cu-Pb sulfate carbonate. Beautiful turquoise-blue, sparkly, gemmy and lustrous microcrystals with glassy colorless calcite crystals cover the small cabinet matrix on this rich and very colorful example from the Soda Mts and the Kay Robertson Collection # 1206. This fine older piece with the low number is possibly from the well-known Blue Bell Mine, which shipped ore in 1949 and 1951 (MINDAT). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
